Three outstanding seniors from Elwood-John H. Glenn High School – Camila Avila, Katelynn Fratarcangeli and Walidaad Malhi – were recently named Commended Students in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program. Approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation were recognized for placing among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2026 competition by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

“This was something that I was working towards, so I am happy to have earned it,” Avila said. “I think it says a lot about the academic standing of our school that three of us were able to accomplish it, so I’m really proud.”
