It was quite week for the John Glenn High School kickline team. The dancers kicked off the season alongside the Marching Knights at the school’s annual band camp. They then made a memorable impact at the National Dance Alliance’s summer camp at Hofstra University, with John Glenn boasting two All-American winners, senior Megan Scully and freshman Elena Grassi. Emma Kern was selected by staff to “Pin It Forward,” a result of her kindness and hard work, while Ayanna McClymont won a Spirit Award for her work ethic and personality. Megan Scully was also recognized by the coaches for her leadership, work ethic and commitment to dance. Even more impressive, Scully was selected to audition to be on staff for the NDA. Overall, the Elwood team earned a bronze in team performance with a superior rating, a bid to NDA High School Nationals, and the Heart of Gold and Technical Improvement awards. 

“It was a great experience to be a part of the dance community and Elwood community, and to truly get to know the team, said coach Allison Peiliker, who was ecstatic over the strong start to the season.

The kickline team will be returning to NDA Nationals in February for a wonderful opportunity to dance alongside the best.
